This role will primarily involve working under the supervision of the Biochemistry Specialist on specific research challenges, including the development of new assay kit and enzyme products. The role holder will take responsibility for the management of their own R&D projects and proactively work towards their completion within agreed timeframes. The role requires the candidate to have good laboratory skills and a good knowledge of biochemical assays and their applications. The role also requires excellent attention to detail, problem solving, record keeping, organisational, communicative, inter-personal, and multi-tasking abilities. The candidate must be a proactive team player with the ability to work on their own initiative. The work itself is vital and brings with it the opportunity to succeed and to progress with a great organisation which leads the market in its field. What you’ll be doing:

• New product development – developing timelines, using literature to improve technical understand of projects, planning and executing proof of concept experiments, optimizing product formulations as per customer requirements, developing product formulations based on stability data, manage short term stability trials of new products.
• Existing product development – investigating and troubleshooting issues, developing improvements to existing methodology.
• New product introduction – preparing new product documentation, record progress, liaise with other teams.
• Presenting research findings weekly to R&D.
• Participating in supervision and training of new staff.
• Liaising with management and sales teams to discuss active and new products.
• Travel may also be required from time to time.

About you:

• You’ll have a minimum of 1 year laboratory experience.
• Previous knowledge and experience in Biochemistry.
• You’ll have the ability to read and analyze technical data and procedures.
• You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise you workload.
• You’ll have excellent computer skills and have the ability to collaborate with others.
• A qualification in Biochemistry or related discipline is desirable.
