CUSTOMS AND EXCISE COORDINATOR

Our team in Dublin currently has an opening for a Customs and Excise Coordinator

A role has become available within a well-established chemical company to assist with the administration and control of customs and excise. You will be part of a friendly tax team across the UK and Ireland working on all scopes of import and export tax. You will have regular communication with hauliers, customers and suppliers to organise paperwork and administration for product deliveries.

Customs and/or excise experience is required and we are looking for candidates who show good attention to detail and work well as part of a team. Full training will be given as part of the role to fill any gaps in your knowledge.

This role is fully office based and the successful candidate will need to be available to start June 2024.

As a Customs & Excise Co-ordinator, it is your responsibility to:

  • Prepare documentation and information for the Irish customs authorities and/or hauliers. Distribution of these forms to all relevant stakeholders in the supply chain.
  • Reconcile customs movements to the data on the Irish Revenue portal. Ensuring paperwork for all movements is stored in central folders.
  • Help other areas of the depot team with goods-in/goods-out procedures.
  • Maintain a register of customer authorisations and licenses and updating the ERP system sales blocks where these have expired or not been received.
  • Manage and monitoring the movements of controlled goods in and out of the warehouse. Completing online submissions to HMRC for these movements.
  • Complete regular returns to HMRC on the movement of controlled goods in and out of the depot. Reconciling the closing stocks of controlled goods to the return submission.
  • Provide advice to the sales/stock teams about the process and checks that need to take place when buying or selling controlled goods.
  • Maintain master data on products in the ERP system such as commodity code, product origin, excise classifications and restrictions that need to be enforced.
  • Audit and monitor movements of controlled goods and collating paperwork.

As a Customs & Excise Co-ordinator, you should have:

  • Experience working with imports and exports and familiarity with relevant paperwork for customs agents / Revenue Ireland
  • Experience in stock control or assisting in other practical goods in/out experience
  • Experience communicating with hauliers and customs agents
  • Experience using a computerised stock system
  • Any exposure to excise rules and the EMCS system is highly desired, but not essential.
  • Good understanding of import/export rules and procedures
  • Working knowledge of the Irish customs rules
  • An understanding of the Northern Irish Protocol
  • Broad awareness of excise rules
  • Good attention to detail in fast paced environment
  • Maths and English Irish Leaving Certificate
  • Customs or excise related training course completion is desirable
