JOB TITLE: Data Centre Operations Technician – Dublin
JOB PURPOSE: The Data Centre Operations Technician will be responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of data centre infrastructure, including servers, network devices, and cabling. This position requires some shift work and on-call availability to ensure the continuous operation of critical systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Install servers and network devices according to specifications.
  • Run network cables and make appropriate connections, ensuring proper routing and labelling.
  • Terminate network cable using industry-standard techniques.
  • Demonstrate understanding of various types of network connections and protocols.
  • Familiarity with basic electric terms and units to perform tasks safely.
  • Troubleshoot basic network and power issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Collaborate with troubleshooting teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Organize and assist with customer and third-party visits, providing technical support as required.
  • Perform equipment checks to ensure functionality and compliance with standards.
  • Create and update tickets in the helpdesk system to track and document tasks.
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience in data centre or network support essential.
  • Ability to operate as part of a shift rota (7am to 9pm).
  • Third level or industry qualification an advantage.
    • Full clean driver’s license

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of network technologies is essential.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies is preferable.
  • Experience in using network monitoring tools preferable.
PERSONAL SKILLS:
  • An ability to understand and speak fluent English
  • The ability to work effectively within a team, i.e. sharing knowledge, offering help etc…
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels.
  • Ability to work in isolation when working on shift rotation.
  • Commitment to learning and development of creative support solutions.
  • Ability to lift and move data centre equipment (up to 20kg).
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
